Special Events > Sock Architecture
Thursday 7 - 8:30 pm Sock Architecture Cat Bordhi Tickets: $10 Early Bird / $12
Join Cat on a virtual journey as she regales us with the story of how she went from being a young child who could whip out crochet chain ropes at lightening speed for neighborhood games but couldn't catch a ball to save her life, to her current incarnation as an adult who still can't catch a ball to save her life, but is hopelessly, happily, and productively obsessed with identifying and solving knitting puzzles in fresh ways. She'll encourage our creativity by sharing how her own creative process works, illustrating it with stories that will have us alternately leaning forward to hear the next word or hanging onto the sides of the chair to keep from falling on the floor laughing. Her current book series, a three-volume series of books on innovative sock architecture and felted footwear, titled NEW PATHWAYS FOR SOCK KNITTERS, BOOK ONE and BOOK TWO, and KNITTING AROUND THE FOOT: ANCIENT PATHWAYS, was inspired partly by a behind-the-scenes visit to a museum collection of historical footwear. We will see slides of some of the pieces that are finding their way into her work. At the end of the talk, there will be time for questions.
